COSPLAY是英文Costume Play的简略写法，其动词为COS，而玩COSPLAY的人则一般被称为COSPLAYER/COSER。其形式及内容一般是指利用服装、小饰品、道具以及化装来扮演ACG(anime、comic、game)中的角色或是一些视觉系乐队以及电影中的某些人物。从一般意义上来说的 COSPLAY最早的中文译名是出自台湾，意思是“角色扮演”，指一种自力演绎角色的扮装性质表演艺术行为。
COSPLAY是一项很有爱的活动，每一张照片背后都凝结了COSER、裁缝、道具师、化妆师、助手、摄影师们的汗水，每一部COS作品都是来之不易的。
